Zoyra Magazine

a magazine of feminist politics and culture

Zoyra is an independent and deeply feminist magazine. We understand feminism as an imperative response to a world under threat of collapse, and a salve to the wounds of oppression. We’re interested in asking meaningful questions about power, choice, capital, technology, culture, labor, pleasure, and our shared futures. We are intentionally low-tech, anti-capitalist, and accessible in practice.

We are seeking curious and thoughtful essays, stories, and media reviews for our first issue! To send us a pitch or idea, you can do so on our Subfolio or send us an email. Our inaugural issue's theme is what can feminism do for us right now, in this moment? Where is it needed most right now?

Zoyra is an independent effort. If you have an idea for somewhere we should stock the magazine, would like to collaborate, or simply want to say hello, email zoyramag@gmail.com

Zoyra's low tech ethos:

Zoyra's editorial team chooses to spend less time on screens and be more present with their own lives. To lessen energy and environmental impacts and lessening dependency on data centers, our website is intentionally simple. We attempt to balance ethical practices with art and function in all we create.

This website is a static webpage built with plain HTML and CSS. This means more privacy and no tracking, less energy usage, and increased accessibility for people with disabilities.

Aiming to be low-tech, we keep our presence online very small. You won’t find us on social media.

As a result, this website is a static webpage built with plain HTML and CSS. This also means more privacy and no tracking, and no unnecessary bloat. Keeping this website simple means it loads quickly, uses very little energy, works well on older devices, for people with disabilities, and slower internet connections, and can be maintained with less resources than the average webpage. Aiming to be low-tech, we keep our presence online very small.
